Jason Laws

FOUNDER & CEO

Jason founded Peloton in 2019, setting out to bring together the most experienced and most effective hands on data warehouse professionals in New Zealand.

He has over 30 years’ experience working with data to deliver customer solutions across almost every type of industry. Jason has designed and built data warehouse solutions in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the United States.

Jason started his career at Air New Zealand, later moving on to work as a principal consultant at Oracle. Jason left Oracle in 2000 to join WhereScape as the company’s third employee, staying for almost 20 years.

Among the highlights of Jason’s time at WhereScape are having led the onsite work resulting in the company’s first US based customer, and single-handedly developing both the Teradata, and Snowflake versions of RED.

He enjoys spending time with family, watching sci-fi, and cycling.

Jason has a Master’s Degree in Engineering and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Auckland.

Stephen Dickens

MANAGING CONSULTANT

Having worked in the IT industry for over three decades, Stephen is passionate about working with people and technology. He has helped many New Zealand organisations to succeed with their Data Warehouse, Data Integration and Analytics initiatives.

Starting out as a programmer, Stephen soon shifted his focus towards Consulting, Customer Engagement, and Team Management. Stephen was at WhereScape for over a decade, having joined in 2004 as one of the first ten employees.

He takes pride in fostering a positive workplace culture with his colleagues and clients, both in and outside of the office.

Born in Belfast and raised in the South of England, Stephen has been based in Auckland for over 20 years. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, staying fit with boot camps, cycling, and working on his homebrew.

Philip Walker

PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT

Philip has over three decades of experience working with customers to turn data into insights. He began his career working in business systems as a developer and business analyst in New Zealand and Europe.

He moved into data warehousing and business intelligence in the late 1990s, and has since worked in technical, analyst, managerial and presales roles.

Philip worked for WhereScape for several years and has significant RED experience and knowledge. He has built data warehouses on a wide range of database platforms, using every approach and toolset imaginable, across almost every type of industry.

Michael Whitehead, the Founder of WhereScape has stated: "Philip is someone you can rely on to understand what is needed, what is important and ultimately to deliver results."

He enjoys spending time with his family, DIY projects around the house, cooking, mountain biking and puzzles.

Philip has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from the University of Waikato.

David Manley

PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT

David has considerable experience in the Information Technology industry, having been involved with the field since the early 1980’s. Throughout his time in the industry, he has gained expertise in system development, specification, solution architecture, mentoring, team leading, business analysis, and project management.

David has extensive knowledge of data warehousing, relational databases, and object-oriented design and implementation. Being experienced with both operational and development management roles, his technical background has been invaluable when balancing businesses’ demands against the capacity of teams to deliver effective, and timely solutions.

Outside of work, David keeps active by playing tennis, and cricket, and is an avid creator of advanced Lego MOC’s which he displays at conventions.

David has both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Computer Science from the University of Otago.

Anil Kumar Thirandasu

SENIOR CONSULTANT

Anil has over a decade of data warehouse experience, including database design, database administration, and all facets of data warehousing and business intelligence.

He is highly adaptable, has a positive “can do” attitude, enjoys sharing knowledge with team members and is a great communicator.

Anil is certified in several databases, including Teradata and Snowflake. He has experience using several tool sets for data warehouse development, including WhereScape, dbt, and Coalesce.

In his spare time, Anil enjoys spending time with his young family and friends, playing and watching cricket, and reading tech blogs about new technologies.

Anil has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from MVSR Engineering College, Osmania University in Hyderabad.

Fiona Bell

FINANCE & DIGITAL MARKETING

Fiona has been a secondary teacher, teaching German, and has also worked in banking. Most recently, she worked in a high school Learning Support department; enabling inclusive education for children with learning difficulties and disabilities.

At Peloton, Fiona is responsible for finance and digital marketing.

She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies are reading, gardening and genealogy.

Fiona has a Bachelor’s Degree in German and Linguistics from Victoria University of Wellington and attained a German as a Foreign Language certificate, at the Goethe Institute, in Germany. She also received a Diploma in Teaching from the University of Auckland for German, English and English as a Second Language. She later studied banking and IT at the Open Polytechnic.

Steve Giles

PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT

Steve has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry, having worked in multiple market sectors and with many clients in New Zealand, Asia, and Europe. His extensive skillset in the data space includes modelling, warehousing, migration, governance, engineering, quality, advanced analytics, and more.

Starting his career as a systems engineer, he followed his passion for analytics with subsequent roles in solution delivery, data quality, and senior level consulting in information management and data analytics. Throughout his time in the industry, Steve has developed deep technical skills, an ability to understand the business value behind data, and a talent for communicating insight gained to all levels of businesses.

Before designing and developing take place, Steve is very adept at developing a true understanding, of the problems that our customers need us to solve. Steve is a great team player and leads as required, forming valuable relationships with customers, and taking pride in keeping clients happy.

Steve is Peloton’s only "Master of Analytics" which he gained with distinction after attaining his Bachelor of Information Systems from Massey University.

Outside of the world of data, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, travelling, and is an avid reader.
